An amazing feeling

I hope everyone had a good 4th of July! Mine was one for the record books and I hope that I will remember it forever as one of the coolest things I've done.

Around 6 I went downstairs to the Hotel restaurant and had some of the best chicken wings I've ever had (I know right?) they were delicious! After that I came back up to the room, touched up some of my make up and went up to the "Skyview" lounge (hotel bar on the top floor of hotel) for drinks and the eventual fireworks show.

It wasn't very crowded but once again I found myself making friends with the bartenders and people around me. I got invited to sit with some of my new acquaintences and so I did. At 9 oclock the DJ put on all sorts of patriotic music and the lights dimmed as we watched the Fireworks begin on the USS Alabama. (Where I'm going today)

As I was watching the fireworks, I had a moment of  "Wow, I'm really doing this" it was both liberating and fufilling at the same time.

The even cooler part of the night was, the DJ was playing your basic "God Bless America" "You're a Grand ol' Flag" etc.... then he played the "Star Spangled Banner", now I know Alabama isn't some foreign country or anything like that... but I had the sense of nostalgia as a room full of strangers, from so many different locations sang in unison as we watched fireworks. No extra conversations, no drinks being ordered. Everything stopped and we sang along. It was very profound. Maybe there is hope for the human race after all!

After the fireworks finish, I mingle a bit more with the old folks (bar clears out mostly) and then aroundd 10:30 I head back to the room. It was a fun night, might have over indulged a bit in the cocktails last night, but alas no hangover this morning... So that is a win. Haha

Anywho, I'm off to grab some lunch and head out in the bustling metropolis of Mobile.

Much love,
E
